The International World Games Association (IWGA) organizes the World Games every 4 years.
Thus, an International Sports Federation (IF) can become a member of the IWGA; it must
satisfy two essential conditions:
The IF must be a member of GAISF (the umbrella organization for all (Olympic and non-Olympic)
international sports federations), and their sport does not belong to the current Olympic program.
Since 1989, the World Games are under the special patronage of the IOC.

Bali INA cancelled
2023: Originally scheduled for 2021, the event was postponed until 2023 due to the effects of the
COVID-19 pandemic, and subsequently cancelled less than one month before it was due to start.
Bali was awarded hosting rights on 10 June 2022. One month before the start, the ANOC announced that the Games would be
cancelled because the Indonesian Olympic Committee had withdrawn from its commitment to host 2023 ANOC World Beach Games
as the funding had not been released by the Government of Indonesia. There was not enough time to award the games to
another host.
