Shooting - Progression of running target world records
Before 1947, the running target competitions were run by the FITASC, which
never recognized world records. As the UIT took over these competitions it
also established official world records.
For the general world record regulations see at the rifle and pistol
section.

WR of 29.07.1952: Olympic Games; not accepted as world record
Running target, 50 m
On 22.03.1967, the technical commission of the UIT decided to
officially recognize world records in Running target shooting. The
first official world record was the best performance since the 1963
European Championship.
Rifles with a caliber of 5.6 mm (.22") were permitted with a
maximum weight of 5.5 kg including sights (telescope) and a trigger
weight of at least 500 g. Multiple chargers had to be used as
single chargers. Commercially available rimfire cartridges were
used as ammunition. Until the moment the target became visible, the
shooter was to stand in the ready position to fire, holding his
rifle with both hands, with the butt of the rifle touching the hip
and clearly beneath the elbow, which hangs down normally. Only when
the target appeared did the shooter aim the rifle.
Frist slow run: A shot was to be fired for every five-second
appearance of the target on the 10 m wide target line. 10 (15)
appearance from right to left and 10 (15) appearance from left to
right. Then the same program in fast run: 2.5 s appearance.
